Personal Preparedness in America Survey and Community Preparedness

In conjunction with FEMA’s Community Preparedness division, the Citizen Corps’ grassroots model of community preparedness has rapidly spread from city to city, county to county and state to state within the U.S.

More than perhaps ever before, Americans have been asked to become fully aware. trained, and practiced on how to respond to potential threats and hazards.  And, more importantly, organizations have become more aware of the integration of individual, family and community preparedness relevant to the effectiveness of their own disaster recovery efforts.

One of the most referenced surveys that addresses the topic of Personal Preparedness in America is the compilation of findings from the 2009 Citizen Corps Nations Survey from August 2009.

If your organization is interested in evaluating the personal preparedness levels of their employees, their surrounding communities and general organizational resilience levels, as well as, perhaps in need of a general benchmark measure of the public’s knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors relative to preparing for a disruptive event such as a hurricane, flash flood, fire, etc., then becoming familiar with the findings of this survey will be time well spent.
